One of the things that I’ve found the most challenging in this book writing process is talking about the book. I guess I never really factored in that when you write a book you have to talk about it a lot and how draining that would be when the book I wrote is about my trauma. You know, just a really light, casual topic to write about and then talk about a lot.
I take a lot of naps is all I can say. Haha.
I have been on quite a few podcasts over the last few months and wanted to share some of my favorite conversations with you. I made a playlist on spotify for all of the podcasts I’ve been on talking about Even if He Doesn’t. You can check out the full list here :
There are a few I want to specifically call attention to because
I just really enjoyed the conversations and
I feel like they best sum up the heart and message of Even if He Doesn’t
FAITH AFTER THE FORMULAS FAIL WITH SPIRITUAL MISFITS
The first is my interview with Spiritual Misfits. Will woke up early on the other side of the world to chat with me and his questions were so thoughtful and empathetic. Our chat was so vulnerable and honest and I think it’s the one that really encapsulates who I am, how I approach my faith, and the nuance and complexity that my story (and all of our stories) contain.
EVEN IF HE DOESN’T WITH RECLAMATION PODCAST
Tony is one of my favorite people to talk to. His questions are just so good and really reflect how genuinely curious he is about people and the work that they do. This was a good mix of lighthearted conversation about my viral reel about suffering and how I navigate public platform, writing, and sharing such vulnerable aspects of my life and the more serious topics of theology shifts, pain, and how those things affected me. I love podcasts where you can tell the person being interviewed is comfortable and Tony is one of those people that makes me feel safe to be myself publicy.
RADIO SPOT WITH THE COMMON GOOD
This is a short radio spot that aired yesterday (I think!) on a radio station in Chicago. If you don’t have a lot of time (or don’t enjoy podcasts) this is a quick overview of the heart of the book.
FINDING FAITH WHEN FORMULAS FAIL WITH THE TRUTH + OUR TRAUMA
I love this podcast, first of all. I think any work that exists on the intersection of faith and trauma is important and necessary. I loved my conversation with Michelle. We talked about the making and breaking of rigid faith formulas and finding friendship and community post relational and faith trauma, and ebenzer stones that remind us that God sees us and cares for us specifically.
I’ll continue to update the playlists as new episodes are released. Hope you enjoy these!
We are six days away from the release of Even if He Doesn’t and it would mean the absolute world to me if you’d preorder my book! I can’t help but think about the fact that if even just a third of you ordered my book or requested it at your local bookstore or library, I might actually have a shot at seeing it on a shelf and not just on the internet. I could maybe even hit a bestseller list or two which would be - crazy. But a girl can dream, right??
All the info you need about the book and how to claim your preorder bonuses is on this page. Let me know if you have any problems or questions and let me know your podcast thoughts! The comment section is always open.
