oh hey friends.
Every year, Zach and I have at least one conversation about our work/home life, our hopes, our dreams, what we need, what we want, and what we expect from the other. It’s kind of essential to our lifestyle as two parents who both work from home and are homeschooling five children and view each other as equal partners with no defined, static “roles” in the home. Sometimes he’s the provider, sometimes I am. Sometimes he is the “go to” parent, sometimes I am. We change and shift our roles and responsibilities as we need to and its works really well for us.
Last year, I told him that I wanted to scale back my work life and focus on just a few things. That would mean more hours for him to grow his freelance business (he does copywriting and marketing) and more hours for me to work on what I want to work on and taking on more responsibilities in the home again. It’s been hard to scale back my online presence and put more hours into focused work on smaller scales - like my writing on here, in my books, and the occasional hefty caption on instagram. I’m a storyteller and stepping back from creating little digestible things for other platforms to chew up and spit out has helped me to enjoy the process of writing and telling my stories so much more. It’s helped me to feel more inspired and less pressured.
At the beginning of this year, I told Zach that all I really want to do this year is write my little books and connect with the people who read my words on a deeper level.
So for the last couple of months, that inspiration and desire to connect has been focused and channeled in creating something for us to do together and I wanted you to be the first people to know. To keep this as interactive and collaborative as possible, I’m going to cap enrollment and it’s important to me that you guys get the first chance to grab it. First dibs to the people who have been most connected to my words. I’m so thankful you’ve given me a place to write them!
Ahem … drum roll please …
Enrollment is open only for you for the next 24 hours (before I open it up to instagram) for my first writing course : Story - The Spiritual Storytelling Course
It’s a writing course, but it’s more like a dig your story from the depths of your soul so you can tell in an ordered, confident way course. You don’t have to be a writer or even an aspiring writer to do this. You just have to have a story that needs digging out. And I think that’s probably all of us.
You can read all of the details on my (new!) website but to sum it up : It’s a six week, interactive and collaborative course. When you sign up, you’ll get a 60 page digital workbook and instructions on how to print that out, if you choose to do that. (And I do suggest it!) For six weeks, we’ll gather together on a zoom call once a week to learn a new skill, write together, encourage each other, and share what we’ve been working on.
To be clear - this isn’t a technical writing course. I’m not going to tell you what you’re doing right or wrong or offer you any notes at all on what you write. It’s not that kind of course. You can be an experienced writer or you can be picking up a pen for the first time and we will all be on equal footing. I’m trained in the Amherst Writers and Artists Method through an organization that teaches writing to women who are incarcerated and newly released. The goal of this method isn’t to become a great technical writer, but to explore your story and experiment with the writing and telling of it.
You’ll learn the craft of writing as you go, but you’ll do it without feeling bad about yourself and without any embarrassment in a safe and encouraging environment.
Click the button below to get all the info for the course and to sign up. BUT FIRST - if you are a monthly or yearly paying subscriber to this substack, check your email for a 25% off discount code. If you’re aren’t a paying subscriber yet but you want to get the discount code, upgrade your subscription and you’ll get the discount code sent straight to your email when you upgrade. (the discount code saves you $37 on the course)
Ok that’s the boring stuff. Now click the button! Enrollment closes April 26th!
That’s it. I cannot wait to experience this with you. I’m so excited to get to know you better and hear your story. Story is the way God has revealed himself to us and it’s the way we reveal ourselves to each other. Nothing connects us to each other more than our individual stories and I can’t wait to see how our stories intersect.
I’ll see you in there.

Very interested in this! But I am neck deep in Seminary classes and writing until mid-June. Will you be offering a summer session? :)
Arghhh this is unfortunately not the right timing for me to take this course but PLEASE offer it again! I would love to take it!
