This was a fun one! I've been using the Kibbe Typing method to help me feel more confident in my style. Ashley from Get Mom Strong is a twin mama who learned how to heal her diastasis recti. She's got fantastic tips! We don't have anywhere to install a wood stove yet so I've been using those wood burning videos on YouTube for the sound and sight. Most days I turn it on and it makes everything feel cozier. I turn off our lights, plug in our tree and turn that channel on. It's no match for a real stove but it's good enough for now!
I learned how to knit years ago but for some reason haven't made anything in years. My phone (coloring and playing games) has become my hobby but I really want to use my phone less, so I bought yarn, found a simple pattern for a cute wrap in my stash and I'm going to give it a whirl!
I like making hats! This year, I’m going to brave it out and make a sweater! 😬 (i tend to get bored if the project is too long, but I really want to wear a sweater and the store sells dumb woman’s sweaters!
To go along with what you were saying about clothing: I’ve started wearing men’s shirts this year, because I too have an ab separation, and women’s tops just don’t work!
A basic men’s tshirt, or plain pull over sweater is perfection! (And usually waaaaaaay better quality than the weird stuff they sell for women!)
Here's my rise and fall of POG theory. They hit hard with 4th and 5th graders. Then a year later when we went to middle school the big kids scoffed at our playground hobby and/or we no longer got recess so the hobby just died off... This is a theory I have no evidence for except my own life stage 😆 OR people became so protective of their favorite pogs that they started just hoarding and the game was no fun if there wasn't special ones to try and win. Just two theories! Please share your ideas or anecdotes to add to Kristen's research 😉 I think I have a few POGS in a box somewhere...
Learning Spanish is my latest hobby. I majored in French in college, and it's true what they say, if you don't use it, you lose it. Our son, 23, gifted me a Duolingo account for Christmas. It's fun and helps me utilize my competitive streak in more utilitarian fashion. I'm also learning that what was true of learning French for me is true of Spanish...reading and writing are my strengths...speaking not so much.
I also agree that hobbies are so good for your mental state! I also jumped from one hobby to another. Always thinking I don’t have enough time with little kids to go all in with one thing and I’d have to wait till all my kids are out of the house. God finally bonked me on the head and showed me I needed to be fill that creative void that I was craving. I starting taking pottery lessons. Got hooked and have truly seen my mental state transform. I’m in the healthiest place I’ve ever been and I truly think a lot of it is due to doing something that breathes life into me that’s just for me. Thanks for sharing your hobby struggles and triumphs. Also I love but nothing!!
I think I am going to jump on the Carlos Whitaker bandwagon and learn ASL as my hobby for the next couple of months!😊
Yessss
I LOVED POGS. But, I'm pretty sure my school banned them QUICK. Just like they banned flip flops. It was a sad year.
Not the flip flop ban!
that. pog. video.
INCREDIBLE.

Love kibbe! That was my first intro into discovering my body type and dressing to it. Thanks for the diastasis repair rec!
She's doing a free 30days trial right now fyi! It would be a great time to check her out!
I definitely read the titles as “hygge hobbits” and thought, hmmmm sounds redundant but perfect for me 🤣
😂

Ok you’re on to something about men’s shirts!

I would love to take up pottery! That’s on my list of things to try. Seems so relaxing!
My husband still has a sleeve of pogs his mom saved from back in the day! Maybe that will be my wintering hobby this year 🤔
No wayyy!!
I remember pogs. Mostly that another girl in my 3rd grade class stole mine and I didn’t have the guts to call her out on it😜
No! How could she!
