Hello from Waukesha, WI! This wintering series was one of the best things about winter last year (I mean that’s not a hard list to top hence the need for it.) I’m excited to go mug shopping today! I’m also SO HONORED that Kristen and Zach loved our coffee so much they would recommend it to you all!! Thank you so much to anyone willing to try us out! (It’s mostly my husband but it’ll be packaged with love by me ❤️) Looking forward to this season of wintering!

As an official Not-A-Morning-Person, may I suggest to my fellow night owls that this mug and warm drink ritual is equally delightful in the evening. I like to make mine at "clock out" time, which in my house is generally 8pm. Most of my working/parenting duties are done by then, and I am settling down with a book or a tv show. Pair it with changing into your pj's and it's the ultimate nightly cozy time.

Ooh I really like this idea. My kids are little and wake us up super early but to make this time truly a me time night would work way better. And over the years I’ve upped my decals/herbal tea collection because a cup at night is soooo nice.

This sounds so cozy!

I live in central Maine where the winters are long, dark, cold and windy. I participated in your wintering series last year and I am really looking forward to it this year. I even made my own wintering mug for this season. 🎄❤️

You MADE one??

Yes! A family friend has a kiln so I poured a mug and painted it to look like a happy snowman face. I’ll share it on Insta and tag you once it’s all shiny. ☃️

Amber you made one?! Where can we see a photo of it?

I missed your comment (obviously) send me a DM @littleboycentral on Instagram and I’ll share a pic with ya.

I live in Mexico, where old retired people go to spend the winter, but I have loved this series since last year because I struggle with finding things to look forward to, and well, being happy. This winter I am spending it far away from my home and my family (and my cat and dog) and it’s very hard to find joy in my days because I don’t want to be here. So this series once more is going to be such a joy for me and I am so excited. I already got my mug and a sweatshirt I love and I will be wintering this year, wintering harder than I’ve ever wintered before.

I live in Indiana and winters can be bitterly cold... but with very little snow (maybe a handful of solid snow days per year). Sort of like a perpetual stick season.

"Perpetual stick season" is such a great description for our midwest winters!

I live in central NC and winters here are generally mild. My family and I have a small farm and I grow cut flowers so for me winter is resting and planning and preparing for next year. Amending the soil to let it winter and rest while starting seeds and watching new life sprout. Plus the needs of our animals (41 chickens and 5 goats) keep us active and outside. My four kids love playing outside and so I’ve come to embrace being outside in the cold. I just gave in and bought everyone good cold weather gear.

This was a delight to find the first email of your wintering series this year. I live in Manitoba, Canada and the snow and the cold has already been here for a few weeks. For me the Christmas lights help me “ease” into winter, but once that is done, it is hard to embrace winter for months on end. Your emails last year really helped me rethink winter. Embrace it rather than fight it. Thanks for filling us with hope.

In 2020-21 I wanted to somehow make everyone leave their Christmas light on all winter. It was hard enough as it was, the lights really bring so much joy I wanted it to last.

I also love keeping Christmas lights up longer. I have heard that in some olden times in countries our ancestors came from (for us Poland and Czechoslovakia but others as well) the custom was to keep the candles and lights and warmth and decor of Christmas up at minimum until Epiphany on January 6th but in many areas until Candlemas on February 2nd and this is a tradition I can totally get behind!

Oooh I love this. I’m Czech so I’m gonna tell my husband that it’s my culture to leave the tree up so long.

I leave my stuff up until epiphany every year! I left a lit tree without ornaments in my bedroom until March last year because it made me happy lol

hi i'm lizzie! i am originally from louisiana, and this is my first year in the midwest/michiana - a land that actually gets a real winter season! so i am very excited about learning how to lean into this new rhythm of season.

Hi! I lived in michiana for 6.5 years before moving back to Missouri. It is a very real winter season! But leaning into it will definitely help. ☺️

I live in Albuquerque, NM. Winters are pretty mild compared to most areas of the country. There are maybe 2-4 weeks where it's truly too miserable to go outside. I'm a Mom of 3: 4 yr, 2yr, and 9 months. Winter never bothered me until I became a Mom. As soon as the time changes that first week of November and it gets dark at 5pm I become so...rage-y. I feel more trapped than the norm.

You are absolutely right: winter is the worst especially with young kids!

Hello all! I live in Northern California where the winters are quite mild, but two nights ago we had out first frost and now it is gloomy and rainy on this December 1st so I am really feeling the pull toward sinking in and wintering this year. I saw all the posts about it last year and thought what a great idea it was but never hopped on board, so this year I'm committed to settling into this season and seeking out all the hygge I can find, even on the harder days. :)

Hi from central CA, where the winters are mild and not rainy enough. We are in a drought. Send the wet weather our way!

I live just north of Seattle and while we currently have a bit of snow on the ground, our winters are normally a solid 5-6 soggy months of grey and rain. I actually have always really liked winter (where I grew up it snowed a lot but was still sunny nearly every day of winter. To me snow+sunshine is perfection). Moving to Seattle 13 years ago changed that, and I now definitely struggle with S.A.D. for sure. This will be my second year ‘wintering’ with this community and I’m ready. SAD lamp ✔️ Vitamin d supps ✔️ Cute mug ✔️ Twinkle lights in every room of my house ✔️

Haha I got my twinkle lights from Amazon a few days ago 😂 now, just to actually put them up 😅

I LOVED the quote you included about enjoying the space between where you are and where you are going. Just what I needed to hear on a slow morning recovering from sickness. 😥 We live in upstate SC, so winters for us don’t really start until around New Years, and then it’s 35°-50° and raining until about mid February when it starts to warm up. Tbh those 6 weeks don’t feel long enough to me, because warmer weather means outside work is starting up again, and I’m not quite finished with my rest yet. 😝

I'm in upstate SC as well! I'm near Clemson University. Happy wintering neighbor! 🥰

Hi Kristen and friends. I'm Shannon and I live in Northern Michigan where we also get about six months of winter. I'm originally from SoCal so you can just guess the amount of love I have for my husband that I've been willing to call the frozen tundra home for more than 15 years now. I'm writing this to you from under my S.A.D. lamp, but I'm looking forward to choosing a mug!

This is the most south I’ve ever lived ... in South Dakota 😏 Grew up in MN, lived in MT for a few years before settling by my husband’s family in SD. All of those places have winter, all of those winters are different - much colder in MN, lots more snow and sun in MT, somewhat ‘milder’ here in SD. But, no matter where I lived, seasonal depression has followed me.

I did my best to follow the wintering last year while being a first year teacher, mother of 4, etc.

This year, I find myself unexpectedly at home, most likely transitioning my kiddos to homeschooling. I’m excited to see how this can make our transition more peaceful and enjoyable.

Hello from Manitoba, Canada. Our winters are LONG and COLD. Growing up, I never learned to love outdoor winter activities. Maybe it was because my dad was from the tropics, and felt that Canadian winters must simply be endured. My mom always made sure that our home was cozy and we had plenty of books to read during the cold months, so I've always enjoyed winter. But this year I want to be more intentional about getting outside and feeling the freshness of the intense cold. I'm excited about being a part of this wintering group!
