Let us know if you figure out wingspan!? I bought it several months ago because I thought it looks so pretty and my family loves games. We sat and tried to figure it out probably 45 minutes, including YouTube tutorials and gave up.

I played Wingspan for the first time at Christmas with family and I actually thought "Ooh I bet this is the sort of cozy game that Kristen is talking about and would love!"

Sorry just saw that you have tried YouTube... I don't own the game so I don't think I can be of much help. Sorry!

It can be a bit much to learn at first! I was definitely overwhelmed the first while. I find watching YouTube videos very helpful when I'm struggling with games. I'd suggest looking there!

I agree with the parchment paper tip! I actually place my dough on the parchment seam side down to transfer it. Also your recipe is missing the scoring step (though the pic shows it) - cutting a deep X. If you don't want to score, plus the seam sides up. You need some cracks to release steam and help with the rise.

And King Arthur flour has a lot of good beginner bread recipes!

We LOVE Wingspan and it's sister game Wyrmspan! I love it because you can play it by yourself, 2 people or a lot of people. It's one of the most flexible games I've ever seen. Plus it's competitive without being directly competitive. There's not a lot you can do to block other players, but at the same time you're all trying to collect the most points. It leads to an oddly peaceful gaming time. Perfect for wintering. Plus that art! <3

I’m not all that experienced with making bread, but I have been trying my hand at sourdough since a friend shared her starter with me over the summer. If you have a starter (or have somewhere to get some), this is one of my favorite recipes: https://pin.it/1Ya7q86YB

Hopefully that link will send you to the pin on Pinterest. Like most sourdough recipes, it takes a long amount of time with waiting and rising, but this recipe is pretty simple and delicious!

If you take parchment paper and get two long pieces and cross them over each other to make an X, then put the dough on that, lift the paper ends up and place in your Dutch oven, that can be easier to remove the loaf when it’s done.

And if you have trouble with the bottom of the loaf burning before the rest of it is done, put a cooling rack on the oven rack and set the Dutch oven on that. This way the Dutch oven has more air moving around it and everything will cook more evenly.

I taught myself to bake bread at home using Bonnie Ohara’s book “Bread Baking for Beginners” and would absolutely recommend that as a starting place if you want to dive deeper into making your own loaves. She also has a book aimed at baking with children called “Let’s Bake Bread” that looks really well done but I haven’t actually used it myself.
