I have actually been planning to start up sewing and cross-stitch again. I have a floral Darth Vader cross-stitch pattern that makes me so happy in its beautiful ridiculousness that I'd like to finish.

I took up embroidery last year and I love it! It's so satisfying, calming, simple, and rewarding!

I would love to learn hand lettering. I have all the supplies - I just need to begin 😊

Have quite the stash of yarn and a plethora of books to read. So much so that I daren't bring any more home. Last year during lockdown I started to learn Italian on Duolingo. My mom was from Italian heritage. Maybe I'll start it up again. Ciao!

I have a basket of yarn & list of little baby bonnets I’ve yet to start on this year. I plan to make it my “wintering” hobby :)

I’ve been cross stitching for years but have let it go. I’m going to pick that up again!

I love to learn to knit or crochet.

May I suggest "free form embroidery" for you? Google it ... no patterns needed, just your own imagination, and a few basic embroidery stitches & supplies can make amazing projects to work on at your own speed, in your own (maybe limited) time.

I wish I had good hobbies, but I don't have patience for crafty things. I do love reading and baking, but I spend way too much time watching youtube videos instead.

I’m an artist and sometimes I struggle to have patience for crafty things as well! Are there any particular videos you enjoy watching?

A variety. Homesteading/gardening videos, cooking videos, family vlogs, etc.

I love diamond art! It’s something I started doing in the evenings ( my spouse works at 2am so I am often alone) to keep my adhd from overruling my evening lol.

No more profound words have I needed to hear (read) than “ You don’t have to justify the way you are wired.” Amen!

I love your thoughts on melancholy, as I can definitely fall into that category as well. Especially as an artist, it does feel as though some of my more meaningful creative expressions have come from that place. I think I’m almost more scared of a mountain top experience, because I know it won’t last (does that make me a glass is half empty type of person?? Haha), BUT as you said…Jesus meets us both in the times of great joy and great hardships and melancholy. I don’t need to chase after one or the other to experience God more. I just need to invite Him into my present state and allow Him to love me there.

As far as hobbies go, I already mentioned that I’ve grown to love needle felting and I would highly recommend it for anyone, no matter what you consider your artistic abilities to be! My husband and I are also attempting to learn to sew together. So far I’ve made some wonky looking scrunchies and a heating pad filled with flaxseed and dried lavender that I used all weekend and loved!
