I don’t have my list made but I did want to say thank you. This is the third Christmas without our daughter (adopting from China) and I came into this season completely unprepared for my emotions. So I guess the thing I like most right now is seeing this email come through during the week! I appreciate you sharing your time and words with all of us! 🤍

Love this series! Favorite cozy things for me are a soft blanket, something warm in a nice mug, a fireplace, a good book, and some twinkly Christmas lights :)

My favorite things to cozy up are dimly lit spaces with flickering candles, coffee, fuzzy socks, some kind of book {journal, Bible, good read} and instrumental music playing softly in the background.

Favorite wintering must haves:

- quilts! Any kind. Old, new. Truly much can compete with the thickness and security of a nice quilt.

- coffee + a weekly bake to go with it. This week it was peanut butter balls. Last week it was apple cider donut bread. I’m an afternoon coffee drinker and I love pairing it with a sweet.

- I bought a cozy robe at target that’s so snuggly.

- warm socks! I always think of Dumbledore looking in the mirror of erised which is me every morning craving warm socks.

- I started following a cute page on Instagram called @maggiemice and the images bring me so much joy.

- I just watched Baking It on Peacock and smiled the whole time.

Hope you all are finding joy this season!

I welcome in winter every year by listening to the entire Nutcracker Suite on repeat from Thanksgiving until New Years. I grew up dancing in productions of the Nutcracker every winter and watching the 1993 New York City ballet production of it with my family more times than I can count, so the music is etched onto my heart and brings me nostalgia and joy and COZINESS year after year. It brought me through final exam depression in college and carries me through work deadlines now. It isn’t winter until I’ve listened to the whole thing at least once!

I kinda feel bad even sharing this because I live in Miami and we don't really have winters here but the holidays get me a little down especially because it never feels like Christmas and it just all rushes in. I have yet to put up even one Christmas decoration. It's sad really. So a good thing for me is I take advantage of OUR cold weather which is around 65 degrees (so sorry for all of you suffering through dark and snowy winters) and drive down the street to a business park that has a lake behind it and sit and watch the beautiful colors of the sunset that show off really only during this time of year. THAT makes me happy. Funny enough my kids put me on to this. Thanks for this post because it was a reminder that I had not yet gone this year. Thanks for this wintering project ❤

Some of my favorite things in the winter: Throwing my robe in the dryer to warm it up before putting it on- I also like to do this with blankets before cozying up on that couch with them; wood-wick candles; my fuzzy slippers; laying on the couch, gazing at the Christmas tree, while listening to Christmas music; driving around with my husband and kids to look at Christmas lights;

Normally a honey oat milk latte (but I’m in my first trimester with baby 3 and coffee makes me wanna 🤮😅) BUT cuddling up on the couch with a blanket, homemade soup on the stove and Chillhop lofi Winter Essentials on YouTube 😂 then after my kids are in bed, chillin in the quiet with my husband and watching a movie!

I love sitting on my couch in my pajamas with my coffee and the Christmas lights on. I have two kids age 6&7 and then a 6 month old so I am finding I don’t often have time for myself. So small little moments like these brings me joy. Thanks for this “assignment”. I think it’s just what I need today.

Winter up until Christmas isn't hard for me. It adds to the festivities and traditions we do leading up to Christmas. But January, February, even March when it's still just gray, cold, and rainy, oof! Sitting trying to thing of some of my favorites things, was difficult. What does non- mom Caitlin like??? This is the best list I could put together...

- good coffee, iced, hot, doesn't matter

- hot epsom salt bath with a good podcast

- a cozy blanket, big enough to fit all 6 ft of me with ease.

- snuggled in bed watching Gilmore girls while hubs scratches and massages my head

- house projects without kids around ordering take out food

- painting and building things

-shabbat dinner

I love this post! I am also all about stoneware mugs and reading the Harry Potter series (or Lord of the Rings) every winter ❤️ I also enjoy setting the mood every morning by lighting a candle and slow brewing coffee (pour over maker or French press) while listening to worship or instrumental music. In the evenings it’s fun to take a walk in the dark, bundled up with a flashlight to look at Christmas lights (the kids love this)
