We make “Dutch babies” all the time and it’s essentially the same ratios in the recipe for Yorkshire puddings but made in a big cast iron skillet instead of in individual muffin tins. They’re so good! We usually do them for breakfast and have a fruit compote and powdered sugar, but we’ve also done them with ham and Gruyère. Such a fun texture and I bet it’s amazing with roast!
Have you ever seen Shadowlands? It’s one of my all-time favorite movies, but so few people have heard of it. It’s made CS Lewis feel more like a fellow human friend, not just the brilliant theologian and author. 🧡
Over Christmas break, my 6 year old and I listened to the Lion, the witch, and the wardrobe on audio while we drove to family Christmas. I can’t wait to try proper English tea and Yorkshire pudding! 💙
The Yorkshire puddings turned out! 😋 I did 2 eggs, 100 g AP flour, and 100 ml milk to make 6. I’ll definitely make them again. Thank you for making our winter more enjoyable 🩷
"No. I’m an American in New England. We threw the tea in the ocean." This cracked me up.
Also, dressing like Lewis SUITS YOU!! You look great!
Lewis is my favorite as well but I've somehow never made it through the entire Chronicles of Narnia. It's on my list for this year and you've given me the nudge to start it.
I’m a Tolkien girl myself. The Lord of the Rings trilogy were my bedtime stories as a child and the Hobbit will forever be my favorite book. I’m trying real hard to make my home as Hobbit-like as possible. My family better buckle up, because it’s going to be full Shire mode around here this week. I
Loved stumbling upon your substack! I was researching “90s evangelical trends” and found your old post: “how evangelicalism wore a generation out.” ❤️❤️🩹 I always loved CS Lewis— especially in my teens. I used to live in Oxford, England and visited his house. They had the best stories about him. He really was hilarious and brilliant!

Dutch baby pancakes have to be the BEST "quick, what at-least-kind-of-nice breakfast can we whip up?" food!
This post is magical! Thanks for giving us something fun to look forward to in the post-holiday weeks🤍
Your outfit is FANTASTIC. I am pretty jealous.
I am pretty proud of the fact that I drink a proper cup of tea almost daily. Had no idea.
Also I love that I am finally old enough to read fairy tales again. ♥️
1. I drink tea (correctly) daily ❤️..I'm special lol
2. Nature walks sound so good. We want to establish a walking path around our 1 acre plot.
3. I cannot wait to dress up like a professor this week!
This is so fun! We’re naming our fourth baby Clive, so it’s safe to say we’re big Lewis fans in these parts 🥰 Love this post!
Your Lewis outfit is perfect!
Your outfit is cute on you and what is your secret for taking such beautiful photos? Do you use a camera or phone? Filter? I’m jealous!
for these i used a sony zv-e10 and edited with the Tezza app!

I've just learned about it!

Perfect timing - I just started rereading Narnia last week!
Perfect!
Honestly, I'm just relieved I've been making tea the proper way all these years. You had me worried.

Oh you just! The Last Battle is my *favorite* in the series. 😭
The Last Battle is just *chef's kiss*
You said it well, how it informed your understanding of God's grace and compassion. Such a beautifully broad picture of his welcome, open arms.

Just caught up with the weak theme! I just finished listening to Narnia on audiobook and have been enjoying other cozy reads mentioned on the discord
